The class starts by asking students why they're learning Italian, and then I adjust my teaching style based on their answers. Usually, the class is divided into two parts. First, we cover everyday conversational topics like greetings, talking about the weather, telling time, shopping for groceries, ordering food at a restaurant, using transportation, going to the market, learning common Italian expressions, discussing sports (especially soccer), and talking about movies. This part of the class focuses on building basic conversation skills, also using famous Italian songs. One fun activity is having students record short videos to practice speaking Italian.
Then, we move on to a brief discussion about grammar and its role in effective communication. While I recognize that grammar is important, especially for beginners, I don't overwhelm students with too many complex grammar rules. I strike a balance to ensure they can communicate effectively without getting bogged down in grammar details.
